New ownership of stratigraphic cores from SINTEF

The agreement was signed by (from left) Lars Sørum, Torbjørn Digernes and Bente Nyland.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) is taking over a collection of 6.6 kilometres of shallow rock cores from the Norwegian continental shelf from SINTEF.

The agreement was signed by Director General Bente Nyland, President of SINTEF Petroleum Research AS Lars Sørum and Rector of NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) Torbjørn Digernes today, 8 February.

The cores are stored in Dora, which was originally a WWII German submarine bunker in Trondheim, and the plan is to keep them here. The NPD and SINTEF have entered into an agreement to share the rental expenses for ten years, with an option for extension.
