  • Fundamental understanding of single and interacting degradation mechanisms (corrosion, fatigue, wear, fracture, environmental assisted cracking) acting on metallic materials during service in different environmental conditions.
  • Management of the structural lifetime and proposing solutions for extension of lifetime of metallic structures based on fundamental understanding involving experimental and modelling capabilities on all length scales. 

The metallic structures of interest include steel (stainless and carbon manganese), Nickel-based alloys, Aluminum alloys, and multi-material solutions.

Main Objective:

  • To be a main entrance gate for industry and authorities seeking understanding and solutions related to life extension of metallic structures.
