Tron Vedul Tronstad

Research Scientist

I have worked at the Acoustic group at SINTEF since 2008. Since then, I have worked on a lot of different projects, but the governing idea has always been hearing.

Since 2022 I have been an adjunct associate professor at NTNU (The Norwegian University of Science and Technology) at the acoustics group at the Department of Electronic Systems.

In addition to being a research scientist, I am also married, have three children, and work as a farmer.

Education

I am a master of science within electronics, with speciality on acoustics. The master degree was taken at NTNU (The Norwegian University of Science and Technology) at the Department of Electronic Systems, from 2002 til 2007.

Between 2013 and 2018 I worked on a PhD at the same university and department. The title of my thesis was "Hearing Protection Goes Digital" and looked at how we might detect hearing damages earlier than we do today.

Competence and research areas

My research area is acoustics, with special focus on hearing and hearing damage. This includes different ways of testing the hearing, both objectively and subjectively, and how to analyse such data.
