Alexandra Bech Gjørv, CEO, SINTEF
Alexandra Bech Gjørv has been President and CEO of SINTEF, the largest independent research institution in Scandinavia, since 2016. She is an experienced industrial leader from companies like Statoil and Norsk Hydro, and has served on the board of a range of companies in industry, energy and media in Norway and internationally. For five years, (until 2015) she was partner at the law firm Hjort, working on corporate and public sector governance, energy and employment. She chaired the national commission investigating the authorities' response to the terrorist attacks on the government center complex and the youth camp at Utøya 22nd of July 2011. Alexandra has a law degree from University in Oslo, New York State bar exam, and has studied at Oxford University and Suffolk Law School in Boston.

 

Harald Laastad, Vice President, Statoil
Harald Laastad is the vice President for subsurface analytics in Statoil's digital center of excellence. His career covers 27 years with Statoil where he has held various technical and leadership positions, including Senior Advisor and Chief Engineer within petroleum technology. He also headed the Statoil R&T Expert Center from 2015-2017. Harald holds a MSc in Geology from University of Bergen, Norway.

 

Signy Elde Vefring, Manager Digitalization Program Office, Aker BP
Signy Elde Vefring is leading the digital program in AkerBP as of December 2017, and came from a position as an advisor in the CEO office. Before she joined AkerBP she worked for The Boston Consulting Group, specializing on projects in the energy sector, and transformation programs. Signy holds a MSc. in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from NTNU.

 

Tina Tina Todnem, Project Manager the Digital Subsurface, Statoil
Tina Todnem is heading the strategic research program Digital Subsurface spanning Exploration and Petroleum Technology. She has been working in Statoil for 19 years where she started her career as a geophysicists. The last 10 years she has held various leadership positions within Exploration and Petroleum Technology. Tina Holds a MSc in Matematical Statiscis from NTNU.

 

Astrid Skarheim Onsum, Chief Digital Officer, Aker Solutions
Astrid Onsum has been with Aker Solutions since 1997, holding a variety of positions in corporate and project organizations with a proven track record and a strong technical knowledge base developed through large and complex oil and gas projects. Astrid took on the role of Head of Engineering Norway in 2011 before moving to her current role in late 2016. As Chief Digital Officer for Aker Solutions, Astrid has responsibility for the development and effective execution of the company's digital strategy.

 

Hans Christen Rønnevik, Senior G&G Advisor, Lundin Norway
Hans Rønnevik is born June 26th 1945 in Haugesund, Norway. He is educated as cand.real from the University of Bergen in 1971. He started his professional life as a petroleum geologist in the Oil office in the Ministry of Industry in 1972 and then from 1973-83 he worked as a petroleum geologist in the new established Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. In 1983/1984 Rønnevik worked as senior petroleum geologist in Norske Shell before he moved to the position as Vice President for Exploration in Saga Petroleum from 1984-1999. In 2000 they joined and revitalized DNO in Norway. Lundin Petroleum bought the main part of the DNO licenses in Norway in 2004. Rønnevik continued as geologist and Exploration Manager. He formulated and implemented the organic growth strategy of this company. The organic growth strategy has resulted in discovery of more than 3 billion barrels of oil in total and a success factor of more than 40 % the last 10 years. The main breakthrough discoveries are Edvard Grieg in 2007, Johan Sverdrup in 2010, Luno 2 and Gohta in 2013 and Alta discovery in 2014. Passing 70 years he entered into a senior G&G advisor role in Lundin.

   

Vegard Flovik, Principal Engineer, Machine Learning & Advanced Analytics, Kongsberg Digital
Vegard Flovik is a principal engineer in the AI Center of Excellence at Kongsberg Digital where he solves real-world problems for various industry sectors using machine learning and advanced analytics approaches. He has a Ph.D. in physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and has previously worked as a researcher for Statoil and several universities in Norway and abroad.

 

Tron Golder Kristiansen, Engineering Geology Manager, Aker BP
Tron Golder Kristiansen is applying geomechanics to solve various challenges in the oil and gas industry. This include work in all areas of geomechanics in multiple disciplines within subsurface and drilling of wells. He started his work with Amoco including work at their research center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a Global Geomechanics Advisor for BP from 2003 to 2016 in the central geomechanics team in the Global Wells Organization located in London and Houston. He was involved in both BP and partner operated projects and R&D around the world in that period. He is currently Engineering Geology Manager in Aker BP in Stavanger and Trondheim. He has an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Stavanger from 1992.

 

Roy Ruså, Vice President, Petoro
Roy Ruså is the Vice President of technology at Petoro AS. He has a BSc in petroleum from Rogaland Regional College, and has extensive experience in Norwegian oil and gas activities from Statoil and Baker Hughes INTEQ. He previously headed Petoro's technology and ICT department.

 

Knut Anders Wangen, Chief Digital Officer, Danske Bank Norway
Knut Anders Wangen has been with Danske Bank for 13 years and has truly exploited the career opportunities that the 2nd largest bank in the Nordics have to offer. He has worked out of Trondheim, Oslo and Copenhagen and he has experience from both business and consumer banking. In the last couple of years he had the role as Head of MobilePay and from January 2018 he took on the role as Chief Digital Officer in Danske Bank Norway.

 

Henning Omre, Professor, NTNU
Henning Omre is currently Professor in Statistics at Department of Mathematical Sciences, NTNU. His research interest conserns Bayesian spatial inverse problems primarily applied to petroleum reservoir characterization. Models for lithology/fluid prediction are of particullar interest. Omre is Head of the research inititive - Uncertainty in Reservoir Evaluation (URE) - funded by The Research Council of Norway and a number of petroleum related companies. Since 1994 more than 35 Phd-candidates are graduated from the initiative. He is also heavily involved in Norad projects in Southern Ethiopia.

Omre educational background is siv.ing from NTH in 1975 and Phd-degree from Stanford University, CA in 1985.

   

Eric Cayeux, Chief Scientist, Iris
Eric Cayeux is chief scientist at IRIS in Norway. After a 20-year career in the oil and gas industry, specializing in drilling and well-software solutions, he joined IRIS in 2004. He holds a master's degree in civil engineering from the École Nationale des Travaux Publics de l'État, France, and a master's degree in software engineering from the University of Nice, France.

 

Peter Jenkins, CEO, 4subsea
Peter Jenkins is the CEO in 4Subsea. He was one of the founders of the company, and has a long track record within the oil and gas industry from both DSND Subsea and Kongsberg SeaFlex. Before being appointed CEO in 2015, he was head of the Well Intervention and Drilling department of 4Subsea.

 

John-Morten Godhavn, Statoil
John-Morten Godhavn graduated with a MSc in 1992 and a PhD in 1997, both from the Department of Engineering Cybernetics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Currently he is holding a position as an advisor in drilling technology at Statoil's Research Center in Trondheim, Norway. He is also an adjunct Professor at the Department of Geoscience and Petroleum, NTNU. His research interests include drilling automation, offshore process control, slug control and model predictive control. Currently he is leading several research projects in drilling automation including software development using machine learning for kick and loss detection as well as prediction of surge and swab effects on the downhole pressure while tripping in and out. Godhavn has authored and/or coauthored more than 60 technical papers.

 

Eirik Larsen, CEO, Earth Science Analytics AS
Dr. Eirik Larsen is cofounder and CEO of Earth Science Analytics, a company focusing on the commercial application of AI in petroleum geoscience. He has 18 years' experience from the E&P industry. He has held various technical and managerial roles in oil companies including Statoil, and 4 years as Exploration Manager in Rocksource. He has experience from exploration, field development, and production on the NCS as well as internationally. He holds a PhD in Petroleum Geology from the University of Bergen, and is now laser focused on implementation of AI in petroleum geoscience.

 

David Wade, Statoil
David holds a Master's Degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Durham. He learnt his craft as a developer writing anti-fraud software in London before joining Statoil in 2011. Since then he has used GPUs to deliver significant acceleration for Statoil's seismic imaging algorithms. He is now involved in investigating other applications of GPUs in the company, especially in the field of Deep Learning."

 

Jan Pihl Grimnes, Advisor, Redback
Jan is a reservoir engineer by training and has 10 years of experience from oil companies in various position. Later he managed the software companies that developed RMS and Petrel. The last few years he has focused on helping companies develop new technologies for various industries. In the oil and gas industry, he has been involved in commercializing Olga, Geoteric and Magseis. His current focus is on introducing 4D seismic as a standard tool for operation of oil and gas assets. This requires a number of technological breakthroughs and these are now ready for introduction in the market.

 

 

Morten Dalsmo, Executive Vice President, SINTEF
Dr. Morten Dalsmo is Executive Vice President in SINTEF and Head of SINTEF Digital, an applied research institute focusing on digital technologies and research-based digitalization. He is also leader of the "Digital21" steering group, appointed by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries in 2017 to strenghten Norwegian businesses' ability and possibility to succeed with digitalization.

Dr. Dalsmo has more than 20 years of experience from oil & gas industry in various leading positions in IBM and ABB before joining SINTEF in 2016. He has a MSc and PhD in Engineering Cybernetics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. He is member of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and IEEE and has served as a Programme Committee member for the SPE Intelligent Energy Conference in Utrecht. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Integrated Operations in the Petroleum Industry at NTNU.

 

 

Knut Andreas Lie, Chief Scientist, SINTEF
Knut-Andreas Lie is chief scientist at SINTEF Digital and professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, NTNU. His research group develops new computational methods for reservoir simulation and CO2 storage. In particular, the group has developed two open-source simulation frameworks that are used all over the world. Lie holds a PhD degree in applied mathematics from NTNU. He is member of NTVA and executive editor of SPE Journal.

 

Adil Rasheed, Senior Scientist, SINTEF
Adil Rasheed is a Senior Scientist at SINTEF Digital and Professor II of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the Department of Engineering Cybernetics, NTNU. He holds a BSc and MSc from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India and a PhD from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Switzerland. He is currently leading the Computational Science and Engineering group within the Mathematics and Cybernetics department of SINTEF Digital. His research group is active in developing enabling technologies for energy, weather, aviation, urban and transport sectors.

 

Knut Steinar Bjørkevoll, Senior Research Scientist, SINTEF
Knut Steinar Bjørkevoll has been working as senior scientist, project leader, research director and research manager at SINTEF Petroleum Research since 2004. He worked as a senior scientist in Rogaland Research 1992-2004. His main achievements have been within development of advanced integrated mathematical models for drilling operations, analysis of drilling data, model based real time decision support, automation of drilling, and a high fidelity training simulator. He is now a leading expert in the use of advanced models for drilling operations, both for planning and for online use feed by real time data from rigs. Within managed pressure drilling (MPD), he has been involved in pioneer UBD/MPD operations in the North Sea, and later had an important role in using advanced modeling for automated choke control during MPD operations. Knut holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from 1992.

 

Erling Fjær, Chief Scientist, SINTEF
Erling Fjær has been working at SINTEF since 1985, on topics related to rock mechanics and rock acoustics, with applications including borehole stability, sand production, seismic monitoring and logging of mechanical properties. His current position is Chief Scientist. He also holds a part time position as Adjunct Professor in petroleum technology and applied geophysics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He has a PhD in physics from the same university.

   

Ane Lothe, Senior Research Scientist, SINTEF
Ane Lothe is working as a Senior Research Scientist in the Exploration and Reservoir Technology group at SINTEF Industry, and has been employed at IKU/SINTEF Petroleum since 1998. She holds a PhD from the University of Bergen in structural geology, with focus on faults and deformation bands in sedimentary basins. Her main field of competence is in pressure modelling; both on basin scale for exploration and on field scale for drilling campaigns. She leads a knowledge-building project named "Pressure Ahead", funded by the Norwegian Research Council and DrillWell. Another research expertise is modelling for CO2 storage.

   

Roar Nybø, Research Scientist, SINTEF
Roar Nybø works as a research scientist at SINTEF Industry, with issues surrounding automation and digitalization of drilling operations. Nybø has a PhD from NTNU in 2009 on use of artificial intelligence in monitoring of offshore drilling. He is today involved in projects concerting digitized drilling fluid analysis, digitized fluid logistics, machine learning in drilling automation and technology transfer from oil and gas to the geothermal industry.
