Backdrop for the seminar
Bodø is a city above the arctic circle in Northern Norway. The old military air force base is soon closing, and this will leave a vast amount of land available for civil exploitation very close to the city centre. It is planned to move the runway for civil aviation south-west of the existing runway and build a new airport. This way the available land from the military air force base can be best exploited for further urban development. The city has committed to cutting its GHG emissions with 60 % by 2030, and Norway has committed to reduce its GHG emissions through the Paris protocol. The construction sector is the second largest contributor today and their emissions are increasing. Hence, if the GHG reduction aims of the municipality is going to be reached, the construction industry must come onboard.
Aim and target group
SINTEF together with Bodø municipality invites industry and decision-makers to a seminar October 27th about development of a construction site prepared for massive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The infrastructure that needs to be built in order to prepare for GHG emissions cuts can further be used to make Bodø a pilot city within green transportation such as ferries, aviation, renovation and public transport.
The development of fossil-free construction machines is underway, and the infrastructure needed for these machines can further be used for green aviation, public transport and zero emission neighbourhoods. At the seminar, we would like to give an update on the newest technology developments, discuss options and possibilities, how can the municipality and Avinor large proprietors play a key role in directing the construction industry towards cutting GHG emissions?
Programme and presenters
Avinor, Bodø municipality, SINTEF, fuel cell producer Ballard Power and Nordvikgruppen (Toyota) are confirmed participants to the seminar. Several other presenters are being booked the following days.
When registering, you as a participant can choose whether you want to participate physically or virtually (webinar).
