Presenter: Heidi Sydnes Egeland, PhD Candidate, University of Oslo
As of February this year, CCUS is expressly envisaged as a fundamental pillar of EU climate mitigation towards net zero in 2050 and net negative emissions beyond. The Industrial Carbon Management Strategy sets forth highly ambitious targets for the volumes of CO2 captured for storage and utilization towards 2050. From a bird’s eye view, what are the current and planned incentives for CCUS in EU/EEA law with which the EU foresees to make this happen?
In this webinar, Heidi Sydnes Egeland, PhD Candidate at the University of Oslo, leads through some of the current and prospective developments for CCUS in terms of the EU Emissions Trading System and the Net Zero Industry Act, and offer some thoughts on potential shortcomings in terms of realizing the ambitious goals of the Industrial Carbon Management Strategy.
