Panels will discuss LMIC partnership benefits and funding models, with insights from nine Norwegian and European research centers.
About the event
Financing will take centre stage at COP29. This side event, organised by SINTEF and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), focuses on fostering equitable research collaborations and financing strategies between Norway and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to drive sustainable, nature-friendly energy systems and welfare.
The event will feature two panels: one led by NTNU Professor Anders Hammer Strømman on building partnerships that benefit LMIC knowledge communities, and another by SINTEF’s Nils Røkke on open financing models, with participants from academia, industry, and finance.
Speakers:
- Anders Hammer Strømman, Professor and Vice Dean for Sustainability, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
- Nils Røkke, Director of Sustainability, SINTEF
- Yosr Allouche, Director General at the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR, France)
- Teresa Ponce de Leão, President at Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia
- Adel El Gammal, Secretary General at EERA
- More representatives from academia, industry, and financing (TBA)
Discussions in both panels will draw on insights gathered by SINTEF and NTNU from nine research centres, highlighting advice on key technologies that can help policymakers and other stakeholders achieve our collective climate goals:
