The EU considers pure hydrogen to be one of the backbones of its future, sustainable energy system. SINTEF conducts research and development activities in a number of areas that are crucial for the development of a working clean hydrogen value chain, from production to transport, storage and end use.
SINTEF coordinates in a number of European projects on hydrogen. This year, a selection of them will be presented at a dedicated stand at European Hydrogen Week.
European Hydrogen Week is an annual event that acts as a hub for discussions on the latest developments and innovations in hydrogen at a national, European, and global level. It is co-organised by the European Commission, Hydrogen Europe, and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

Participating projects and infrastructure at EU Hydrogen Week:
HYDROGENi – HYDROGENi is a Norwegian Centre for Environment-friendly Energy Research (FME) that seeks to spearhead the research and innovations needed for hydrogen to fulfil its potential in the energy transition.
H2Glass – H2Glass seeks to advance hydrogen technologies and production systems for the purpose of decarbonising the glass and aluminium sectors.
H2Accelerate TRUCKS – H2Accelerate TRUCKS is working to achieve the deployment of 150 hydrogen trucks and 8 heavy-duty hydrogen refuelling stations.
REFHYNE 2 – RefH2yne 2 aims to build on the work conducted in RefH2yne to build a 10MW PEM electrolyser, and develop Europe’s largest PEM electrolyser at 100MW.
PROTOSTACK - PROTOSTACK aims to demonstrate the competitive advantage of Pressurized Proton Ceramic Electrolysis (PCCEL) technology.
SUSTAINCELL - SUSTAINCELL aims to support the European industry in the development of the next generation electrolyser and fuel cell technologies.

SMART-H – The SMART-H lab conducts work on investigating the effect of hydrogen on material behaviour at nano and macro scales.
Norwegian Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Centre – The Norwegian Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Centre works to advance the development of high-quality systems for fuel cells and electrolysers.
