Fifteen SINTEF research staff participated in the workshop, together with forty researchers from various South African research centres.
“The workshop was extremely successful”, says Arne H. Eide, research director at SINTEF Health Research, who took the initiative to hold the gathering.
Develop joint research projects
The purpose of the workshop was to bring together researchers from different disciplines in both countries to discuss and develop joint research projects and funding applications. Several groups of researchers have now been set up, and concrete project proposals are now in the process of being drawn up.
Closer regional cooperation
Professor Petra Engelbrecht of Stellenbosch University emphasised that the workshop has also helped to bring about closer cooperation in the field of health between universities in the region.
