Norwegian safety requirements are already strict, but the aim is to make transport even safer in the course of the next ten years.
SINTEF believes that this is a realistic goal, but the trade union fears that adaptations to EU regulations could weaken the recommendations.
The study is a follow-up of the previous studies Helicopter Safety Study (HSS-1) and Helicopter Safety Study 2 (HSS-2). The present (HSS-3) report is in Norwegian language with an English executive summary. The English version of the main report will be available soon.
Helicopter flights even safer
According to a SINTEF report, during the past ten years helicopter flights have become even safer. The risks of flying have been reduced by16 percent, and the only serious accident in the course of the period did not involve loss of life.
