SINTEF signs MoU with TASA

A delegation from the Peruvian industrial company TASA, visited SINTEF this week in order to get better acquainted with the group's broad marine expertise. The visit ended with a signing of Memorandum of Understanding for future cooperation between the companies.

Peru is the world's largest producer of fishmeal and fish oil, and TASA stand for approx. 25 percent of the Peruvian production. TASA is one of the major suppliers with 14 factories along the Peruvian coast, and a fleet of 50 fishing boats. The company is constantly looking to improve its production and explore new business opportunities. Thus they showed great interest in SINTEF's areas of expertise during the visit in terms of further development of pelagic fish resources for human consumption and increased innovation and added value based on marine resources.

TASA has a strong research and environmental focus and is constantly working to optimize both their production processes and their vessels. Through this agreement, both parties wish to develop and strengthen their cooperation. The agreement was signed by Carlos Pinillos from TASA and Karl A. Almaas at SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture.
