European Hydrogen Week is an annual collaborative effort organised by the European Commission, Hydrogen Europe, and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. It acts as a hub for discussions on the latest hydrogen developments and innovations in Europe.
SINTEF conducts research and development activities in a number of areas that are crucial for the development of a working clean hydrogen value chain, from production to transport, storage and end use.
“This is a key arena for SINTEF to strengthen existing partnerships and create new ones with the common goal of establishing a European hydrogen value chain,” said Nils Røkke, EVP Sustainability for SINTEF and director of HYDROGENi.
The EU considers hydrogen to be one of the backbones of its future, sustainable energy system. SINTEF coordinates in a number of European projects on hydrogen, a selection of which will be showcased at EU Hydrogen Week.
These projects include HYDROGENi, a Norwegian research and innovation centre of excellence for hydrogen and ammonia; H2Glass, which aims to decarbonize the glass and aluminium sectors; H2Accelerate TRUCKS, which is working towards the deployment of 150 hydrogen trucks and 8 heavy-duty hydrogen refuelling stations; and REFHYNE 2, which aims to build Europe’s largest PEM electrolyzer.
SINTEF will also present its infrastructure projects, including SMART-H, a lab for investigating the impact of hydrogen on material behaviour at nano and macro scales; and the Norwegian Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Centre, dedicated to advancing fuel cell and electrolyzer systems.

In addition to a stand, SINTEF will also host a special side event entitled "How can we help make hydrogen a key player in the European transition?". The event will take place on Tuesday 21 November 2023, 19:30-22:00 at the SINTEF Brussels office. Attendance is by invitation only.
