In Part 1 it was identified skill needs of teachers in physical education in relation to the teaching of students with asthma.
In part 2, there was a training study for six months among students in high school with a focus on facilitating students with exercise-induced asthma. Physiological parameters were measured before and after the study. The results showed that physical education teachers reported a need for increased knowledge about asthma and exercise. The students had been sufficiently physically active to maintain physical fitness during the project period, but requires adaptation that is not stigmatising.
The project is conducted in cooperation with the pulmonology department at St. Olav's Hospital, LHL, NAAF Sør-Trøndelag county branches, and teachers in physical education. The project was funded by the Health and Rehabilitation Foundation.
