Building Safety

The project "Building safety in Petroleum Exploration and Production in the Northern Regions" was carried out during the period 2007–2010, and addressed safety opportunities and challenges in petroleum exploration and production in the northern regions.

The principal objective was to combine knowledge from high reliability industries such as nuclear, transport and offshore industry to develop new and multi-disciplinary theories, methods, and management tools to reduce risk to personnel and environment in the northern regions.

The project was funded by The Research Council of Norway (PETROMAKS program) and Eni Norge AS. The work was carried out in close cooperation between SINTEF, IFE (Institute for Energy Technology), NTNU and Eni Norge AS, using the development of the Goliat field as a case.
