The main activities of the project are:
- Investigation of PEM water electrolyser cells electrochemically to determine changing material properties upon ageing, especially as function of operation conditions
- Establishing and implementing non-destructive characterisation methods for localization and quantification of contribution to increased overpotentials
- Developing surface treatments with lower cost that will prevent the formation of insulating oxides at titanium bipolar plates and sinters.
- Identifying and screening new more stable anode bipolar plate materials and surface coating techniques with further cost reduction potential
