NextGenRob

NextGenRob aims to develop the next generation robotic technology for Norwegian industry. The project spans five years, is led by SINTEF ICT and has the following partners: Statoil, Norsk Hydro, Tronrud Engineering, Glen Dimplex Nordic, Scandinavian Business Seating, RobotNorge, NTNU and SINTEF Raufoss Manufacturing.

Packing of chair parts in carbon boxes is one of the concepts which has been developed within this project. An automated camera platform, grinding of carbon anodes and learning in grasping are concepts which also have been developed. Photo: ROBOTNOR

NextGenRob focuses on 4 research areas: 3D object localization, synchronization of robot manipulators, autonomy and hybrid force/motion control. To develop the next generation robotic technology, the project will:

  • Further develop the competence of Norwegian research communities and participating industries
  • Develop new robotic technology
  • Develop innovative robotic solutions

NextGenRob is one of the projects of ROBOTNOR, Norway's centre for advance robotics. ROBOTNOR is funded by NTNU and SINTEF and specialized in the development of next generation robotics technologies and concepts, promoting education and industrial innovation.
