PreparH2 – Preparing socio and economic evaluations of future hydrogen lighthouse projects

The objective of the project is to review former previous DEMO-projects and collects views on cross cutting issues from experienced staff, thereby utilizing valuable insights and help future hydrogen lighthouse- projects consider the pros and cons of project organization and financial issues.

SINTEF's contribution to PreparH2:
SINTEF has been responsible for the assessment of financial issues in the PreparH2-project, focusing on two tasks:

  1. The cost of hydrogen demonstration projects throughout Europe, including:
    • Budgeted cost
    • Unexpected (reported) cost
    • Hidden cost (not reported)/estimated
  2. Willingness to pay for hydrogen as an alternative fuel, including:
    • Perceptions, knowledge, awareness and attitudes
    • Early users acceptance of paying a Premium
    • Requirements to reach the Mass market
