MarPot - North

The project will identify, develop and demonstrate how new and improved technologies and innovative data collection can be exploited to solutions for safe and efficient navigation, surveillance, emergency response and improved infrastructure in the north based on the concept of "Maritime situational Awareness" (MSA).

The project will develop:

  • A combination of radar data and AIS (Automatic Identification System) data from the satellite.
  • The use of AIS in unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters.
  • Global Navigation Satellite Systems correction data in the Arctic and at large solar activity in order to:
    • Contribute to improved maritime situational knowledge in the Arctic
    • Test wireless broadband solutions in the Arctic

New solutions will be demonstrated in cooperation with the Coastal Guard.
