Optimal cooling of pelagic fish in chilled sea water

The objective of this project is to contribute to improved cooling of pelagic catch on board fishing vessels by looking at which operational procedures and streaming pattern that provides optimal cooling.

Targets

  • To review previous reports and literature on streaming patterns in RSW tanks
  • To obtain operating procedures from the present pelagic fleet and provide hypotheses for improvement measures
  • To assess and demonstrate how the streaming pattern can be broken and provide hypotheses for how the streaming pattern should be to avoid "pockets" in the tank.
  • Conduct workshops with pelagic fleet and describe the continuation of the work.
