DryMeat

The suggested concept for heat pump drying was the base for a Horizion2020 application on heat pump assisted drying in the food industry (www.dry-f.eu).

The concept was transferred to higher drying temperatures, which require novel high temperature industrial heat pumps. The Spin-Off project was funded in 2016 and will use the waste heat from the drying process.

Three industrial demonstration units will be developed on a technological readiness level close to the market. SINTEF is coordinating the demonstrator placed in the feed producing industry, which will be installed in the production and drying of kibble or dried fodder. The useful supply temperature of the novel heat pump system will be around 150 to 180 °C; the heating capacity will be around 500 kW.
