About the project
NAIDaRo aims at ensuring that Norwegian interests in research and industry will continue to have a voice in the development of AI-related activities in Europe's next framework program for research and innovation, Horizon Europe.
In line with the intentions expressed in the European Commision’s (EC) Communication on AI , the Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT) has started the process towards a new co-programmed partnership on AI, data & robotics (cf. Figure 2) in Horizon Europe. As central stakeholders in the most relevant fields, the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and euRobotics (both described below) have received a mandate to define a strategic research, innovation and deployment agenda and subsequently a proposal for the partnership itself. This new partnership (AIPPP) will enable the adoption of autonomy and AI across sectors, mobilise industrial investments, and support the expected transformation. The AIPPP will mobilize public and private investments to the AI transformation and technology adoption.
Recently, efforts have been made to bring together a fragmented Norwegian AI landscape. Through the NAINE network, all major research and innovation stakeholders in AI-related fields now have a common platform for exchange of information and strategic considerations. While the goal of NAINE is to gather and (to the extent possible) align the Norwegian AI communities, NAIDaRo will act as a spearhead into the process towards Horizon Europe in general and the AIPPP in specific.
The goal of the NAIDaRo is thus
- to ensure Norwegian participation in the formation of the public private partnership on AI, data and robotics, and
- to provide a platform for Norwegian interests in other parts of Horizon Europe where AI will play role.
