ImproveFLOW

ImproveFLOW's goal is to facilitate more cost-effective design of floating wind units and farms by developing methods and tools for coupled analysis of  wind, wave, current and mooring forces on wind turbines and floaters, as well calculation of interaction effects in wind farms due to turbine wakes and shared moorings.

Contact person

Around 80% of the world’s offshore wind resource potential is in waters deeper than 60m, where conventional bottom fixed technology is not economically attractive or even practically possible.

The underlying idea of the project is to make floating offshore wind a more competitive source of energy by lowering the LCoE through reduced uncertainty in the investment and planning phase, and improved accuracy, collaboration and efficiency in the design and engineering phase.
