According to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen), Norwegian regional tunnels longer than 500 meters are closed approximately once per month, primarily due to inspection and maintenance. Reduction of this downtime will thus have great societal benefit due to increased safety, reduced inconvenience for road users, and reduced costs for redirection of traffic.
In this project we will guide Norwegian actors consisting of infrastructure owners, companies who perform inspection and maintenance, and companies working with autonomous systems in using the results from the PILOTING project, supported by
- an interactive visualization that illustrates the solutions developed in the EU-project, and
- a sensor payload which is a duplicate of the one used in PILOTING.
The goal of the interactive visualization is to reach a wide group of interested parties. Such a solution can also present adaptations which is required by specific users in a cost-effective manner. The visualization can be experienced using virtual reality (VR) system when that is available, in addition to a webpage and on mobile devices. A video showing highlights will also be produced.
The sensor payload allows test captures of actor’s infrastructure which enables understanding, facilitation, and accommodation of special challenges the actors are facing.
