Abstract
Catching and processing of fish generates a significant amount of ""waste"" - ""waste"" that actually is a unique raw material for a number of value-added products. Some of this rest raw material is produced in the on-shore processing sector and some is produced on the fishing vessels at sea. Numbers from Norway and UK indicates that mostof this raw material is generated at the processing plants on shore whereas the fishing fleet produce smaller quantities. The fleet seems to dump most of this raw materal at sea, while the on shore industry to some extent finds use of their by-products.
