Abstract
This paper will present how a Benchmarking methodology named SupraLog can contribute to increased European competitiveness and sustainability by developing, testing and validating a set of practical, robust and user friendly indicators for benchmarking European logistics. As a result of EU expanding eastwards, and an opening Russian economy, the European region is currently facing three more or less interrelated challenges. These are; (1) a high and increasing level of CO2 emissions; (2) both port and road network congestion; (3) and a need to increase the level of European competitiveness in comparison to the North America and Asia.
