Abstract
This paper presents the SnakeFighter concept. The generic element within this concept is a water hydraulic snake robot capable of moving and operating in challenging and hazardous environments. Applications of a SnakeFighter system are presented with focus on fire intervention tasks. The development of a water hydraulic snake robot that demonstrates the concept is also described. The robot is the first water hydraulic snake robot ever constructed. Design challenges of a complete SnakeFighter system are also described.
