Abstract
We present some results for turbulent incompressible flow around 2D cross sections of offshore wind turibine blades. Drag and lift coefficients are compared with experimental values. The simulations are done using a newly developed CFD code based on isogeometric spline finite elements. Spline elements are both high order and smooth, which give a very efficient geometry representation of the wing profiles compared with classical low order finite elements. The CFD solver uses a mixed finite element formulation and an efficient segregated solution scheme. For turbulent flows we have implemented the one equation Spalart-Allmaras RANS model.
