Abstract
Software companies have to identify and manage numerous linked processes to function effectively. We describe how a medium-sized software company improved their software development methodology through implementing an electronic process guide. We discuss how involvement in creating an electronic process guide through process workshops influences the use of the guide over time. We have found that the workshop participators were more positive, and had a higher degree of use. Processes developed by the stakeholders themselves seem to be a perfect starting point when introducing a process guide, An evolutionary introduction of the guide created a high and continuous focus on software process improvement in the whole organization. We also found that integrating the existing administrative systems, and tools supporting project work with the process guide increased its usefulness.
