Abstract
Several efforts have been made since 2000 to develop quantitative methods assessing and visualizing the risk picture variations for chemical and process facilities. The advent of information and communication technologies in industry has substantially improved the capabilities of large-scale online data collection and elaboration. For this reason, dynamic risk visualization represents a viable solution for decision-making support. This chapter first addresses the state of the art of traditional risk metrics and the related limitations. Second, a summarized review of dynamic risk visualization solutions is presented to suggest a potential response to such limitations and offer not only graphical user interfaces but also a way to communicate a continuously updating risk picture and detailed information of the subsystems involved.
