Abstract
The goal of SMARTFISH H2020 is to develop, test and promote a suite of high-tech systems for the EU fishing sector, thereby optimising resource efficiency, improving automatic data collection for fish stock assessment, provide evidence of compliance with fishery regulations and reduce the ecological impact of the industry.
This deliverable is an initial specification of FishData—an experimental data acquisition and analysis infrastructure to be established by and for the SMARTFISH H2020 project. We present a number of use cases that the system should support, and from those use cases we extract a set of functional requirements. Based on the requirements, we propose a high-level architecture consisting of two subsystems: An onboard infrastructure for data acquisition and exchange on fishing vessels, and an onshore infrastructure for data centres that process and store data from multiple sources, including fishing vessels.
