Abstract
Traditional modeling of hydropower systems consist of a two-step process. The first part is a strategic analysis of seasonal inflow producing water values as guidelines for reservoir utilization. In the second part these guidelines are used as input for a short-term model with a finer resolution resulting in a detailed operating strategy. In this paper a modeling approach is presented unifying the previously decoupled parts into an Lagrange relaxation scheme incorporating the short term operating in the long term guidelines and vice versa.
