Secure, Trustworthy and Efficient Information Exchange – Enabling Added Value through The Maritime Data Space and Public Key Infrastructure

Abstract

This paper presents the results from two research projects, both related to maritime information exchange, namely Maritime Data Space (MDS) and Cyber Security in Merchant Shipping (CySiMS). The MDS, as a blueprint of the International Data Spaces Association Architecture (IDSA), provides an ecosystem where data and information can be transferred efficiently between maritime stakeholders, maintaining the data owners' rights towards data governance. The CySiMS-project provides a Public Key Infrastructure, enabling safe, secure and trustworthy information exchange mechanisms. When combined, the two projects provide a complete solution for secure, trustworthy and efficient information exchange between stakeholders in the maritime industry.
