Abstract
This report summarizes the main finding from the project PW-Exposed, financed by the Norwegian Research Council, aimed at building a science-based foundation for improved regulation and risk assessment for produced water discharges in the North Atlantic Ocean, focussing on potential impacts on early life stages of marine fish. The project utilized chemical fractionation and advanced analytical chemistry combined with an integrated in vitro-ex-vivo-in vivo toolbox to identify main drivers of PW toxicity and their involvement in different adverse outcome pathways in ecologically relevant and commercially marine fish species.
