Configurable gear shifter for HGV using haptic rendering, force fields and FSM

Abstract

Abstract – to simulate the haptic feel for non-automatic transmission in a Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) driving simulator, the forces feedback a driver should feel when gearing needs to be calculated. A fully customized approach that can simulate any gear shifter pattern and the full range of forces during gear changes is presented.
