Abstract
To fabricate 3 dimensional metal objects using layer manufacturing te chnology we consider the possibility to generate each layer using met al powder as building material. The layerinformation is transferred t o a photoreceptor, ehere it sets up local electrostatic fields, and th us attracts metal powder. In order to predict layer thickness and obt ain a high quality packing property of the object to be produced this study is concentrated on the size distribution of the powder and its weight per area attracted to a photoreceptor under the influe nce of varying electrostatic field strenghts.
