Abstract
This chapter describes how intelligence in general and intelligent goods may support transport in intermodal networks. Intermodal transport is like a race where each leg depends on one another. The individual operator's role in the intermodal network is to facilitate the next leg for the next transport provider. By adapting principles from container handling at a port terminal to intermodal rail-road terminal intelligence will support and enable seamless interconnectivity between actors and activities in the transport leg and through the terminal.
