Engaging Student Seminar at the Gemini Center for Batteries

On Tuesday, September 17., the Gemini Center for Batteries hosted the first of two autumn seminars for students, with around 30 engaged participants in attendance.

The goal of the seminars is to spark interest in battery technology across disciplines such as physics, chemistry, materials science, electrical power, economics, process design, and safety.

The event featured exciting presentations from industry experts. Daniel Eliassen and Anastasia Timofeeva from Elinor Batteries provided an in-depth look into the planning and execution of a new battery factory. They covered everything from initial concepts to establishing process chains, construction plans, and contract signings. The presentation highlighted the importance of a holistic approach to battery production, where both technical expertise and strategic business planning come into play.

Additionally, Jacob Hadler-Jacobsen from SINTEF Energy Research shared his inspiring journey from student to PhD and onward to a career in battery research. He gave an intriguing insight into the daily tasks within battery technology, offering students a realistic picture of what it takes to work in this cutting-edge industry.

The next seminar is scheduled for October 15, with a focus on the applications of batteries in various industries.
