The aim of the VirtualFCS is to reproduce and simulate the dynamic behavior of all the components in a hybrid fuel cell battery system according to the desired architecture and energy control algorithms. The model is developed for transport applications (cars, trucks, busses and ships) with the possibility to be extended to other applications and system configurations. An additional library, XInTheLoop, has been developed for interfacing the VirtualFCS models with an external system for continuous interaction during simulation of the model.
The library is developed through the EU H2020 research project Virtual-FCS, which received funding from the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking (now Clean Hydrogen Partnership) under Grant Agreement No 875087. This Joint Undertaking receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, Hydrogen Europe and Hydrogen Europe Research.
