We are looking for a new team member for our research group Climate and Sustainability in Trondheim.
Who are we:
Our research group Climate and Sustainability is a part of the Department of Climate and Environment in SINTEF Ocean. Our mission is to work for an equitable green transition within the blue economy under the SDGs and we believe that the ocean holds solutions to our most pressing global challenges.
We perform analyses and develop models and tools, to provide knowledge about and give decision support based on environmental (including biodiversity) and climate effects of technologies, with specific focus on blue food and feed systems, offshore energy infrastructure and marine restoration. We work on stakeholder engagement within the context of the ocean and coastal economy and its related ecosystem goods and services. Our modelling and method portfolio is diverse and multidisciplinary and we are now looking into expanding our holistic value chain assessment capacities, with more expertise in LCA and EE(MR)IO analysis. We focus on interdisciplinary research and use a systems perspective in our work.
Our group and department are based in Trondheim at Sealab in Brattøra. We are an international, diverse, multidisciplinary and highly engaged team. Our work is project-based and focused on Norway and the EU.
Who you are:
- Have a minimum of master's degree, preferably a PhD, in a relevant field, i.e. environmental economics, industrial ecology, system dynamics.
- Have documented advanced experience with either Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) or (EE-MR)IO analysis, preferably with some experience related to biodiversity impact assessment
- Have some knowledge in other methods like Material Flow Accounting, Integrated Assessment Modelling, System Dynamics, Econometrics.
- Experience in a modern programming language, preferably Python or R, is essential alongside data analysis.
- Likes to work on several initiatives and projects simultaneously
- Have the desire to develop a strong research portfolio within sustainability assessment together with the team
- Are curious, driven and creative
- Have good communication skills, preferably in both English and Norwegian.
- Thrive in a demanding, high pace and multidisciplinary environment.
Main work tasks:
- Scientific work and project management, in close collaboration with our customers and partners in Norway and abroad.
- Perform analyses and develop tools and models for decision support for societal and industrial challenges in the ocean economy by combining technological, economic, environmental and socio-political aspects.
- Establish new projects and networks for SINTEF.
- Project development (from initiating ideas and proposals to project management)
- Communicate and publish research work and results
