WP3 – Novel safety measures
This WP will be used to suggest and describe alternative safety barriers, work methods or safety principles that can allow for actual reductions in safety manning (e.g. preliminary concept designs for new safety measures and/or equipment).
This WP will be used to suggest and describe alternative safety barriers, work methods or safety principles that can allow for actual reductions in safety manning (e.g. preliminary concept designs for new safety measures and/or equipment). This with same or improved safety-level when compared to conventional solutions, also considering cyber-security. Each measure must also be analysed with respect to its acceptability in the market, by the passengers or for other barriers that may exist for its uptake. Of particular importance are, e.g. design measures that can act as barriers early in the development of a potential incident. Types and components of safety measures may be (non-exhaustive list): Vessel design barriers, Evacuation systems; Man overboard rescue systems; Human intervention onboard; Digital supervision and remote support communication; and Intervention from response service. Work will be carried out through a series of workshops, and between workshops, shipowners, technical specialists in ship design, and safety equipment development work collaborative to develop new safety concepts. WP4 will be used to look at the effects of combined use of measures.
