The simulator has been tested for 13 real cases. The pro-active approach, as suggested by the system, was valued against re-active approaches. The cases reflected different European conditions, including geographical location, size and water management organisation.
The testing was carried out in three steps:
Identification of current state-of-the the art
Comparative studies of programmes for pipe failure forecasting and water supply service reliability
Testing, including test evaluation, of full prototype
The first step and parts of step 2 were carried out for all 13 cities. Step 3 was carried out by a limited number of cities.
Task 6.2 Analyses
A synthesis of case studies was extracted from this project to support further business development and implementation of the CARE-W simulator in later projects. The synthesis comprised a critical view of the tools and methods and did also include sensitivity and feasibility analyses.
