Security Architecture for Distribution System Operators: A Norwegian Perspective
Challenge and objective
- Power distribution is becoming increasingly vulnerable to external cyber threats due to the interconnectivity between the OT and IT systems at the Distribution System Operator's (DSO) premises.
- Security architectures provide a system overview and simplify the implementation of security measures.
Work performed
- Applied a design science approach. Executed interviews and meetings with the industry, studied existing security standards, and smart grid guidelines.
Significant results
- Proposal for a future-oriented security architecture for Norwegian DSOs.
Impact for distribution system innovation
- Help more Norwegian and international DSOs to deploy a robust control centre for the future smart grid.
