Voltage regulation laboratory setup
Challenge and objective
- To demonstrate a voltage regulation service at the DSO's control centre based on control of PV generation.
Work performed
- Emulation of a cyber-physical power system with a control centre using the Norwegian Smart Grid laboratory setup. The communication system of the setup uses 5G technology.
- Tested new methods for monitoring and control the distribution grid from DSO's control centre.
Significant results
- The laboratory setup has wide area communications, sensor emulation, operational technology that will be used for control and operation from the DSO's future control centre.
Impact for distribution system innovation
- Gained knowledge on the future operation and control of the active distribution grid.
