The group of the UPM for this project works at the Laboratory of Composites and Smart Structures, at the Department of Aeronautics. They have been involved in 11 European projects, without interruption since 1996. Its activity has focused on strain monitoring by Fiber Optic Sensors, structural tests, composite materials qualification and damage detection. The group has published over 100 research papers on Structural Health Monitoring, which is a recognized specialisation for this research group.
