EEOSV - Energy Efficient Offshore Service Vessels

EEOSV - Energy Efficient Offshore Service Vessels

Research Council of Norway project no. 210681/O70

The primary objective of this project is to improve the energy effectiveness for OSV-vessels by focusing on the total picture of how a vessel is operated during a life cycle. All aspects of the OSVs operation will be evaluated and the important features will be identified and weighed towards other aspects influencing the total energy consumption in a specific operation offshore.

Secondary objectives are to develop robust methodology for model testing, CFD-calculations and full scale procedures for development and testing of future OSV ship designs. Data and methods from the project will serve as benchmark for future work. The project consists of ship designer/builder, classification society, research institution & ship owner covering the development & use of the ship from the first idea to operation. Improved collaboration between these different actors in the maritime industry through research projects are an important objective.
