The Ship and Ocean Laboratory Departments' contract research is to a large extent related to verification studies of ships and offshore structures. In parallel, development work using funding from The Research Council of Norway as well as internal funding are used to develop generally available software, methods and open publications. The Ship and Ocean Laboratory’s activity area includes surface and underwater vehicles, fixed and floating structures, risers, umbilicals and pipelines.
