MARINTEK's department of Ship Technology comprises classical research services for the shipping industry, like; Hull form design, resistance and propulsion, seakeeping and thruster investigations, ship manoeuvring, new vessel concepts, complex navy ships and civilian ships - often with active Ride Control Systems.

The department is also involved in several research programs funded by The Research Council of Norway and EU, for instance: UTC in cooperation with NTNU (The Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and Rolls-Royce. Another research program is the EU-program Hydro Testing Alliance (Network of Excellence).
