The contributions of Kongsberg Maritime AS in the project is to build competence in applying AM technologies for components to maritime products. The aim is to generate experience in manufacturing of competitive AM parts which have the required quality in accordance with internal- and class society requirements.

Kongsberg Maritime joined the FlexiMan project consortium to build competence in applying Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies for marine components. The project will generate experience in manufacturing of competitive AM parts which have the required quality in accordance with internal- and class society requirements.
Additive Manufacturing is the key to the transformation towards future-oriented, digitalized, and sustainable production processes. The AM will enable new design with enhanced functionality and reduced weight. It will make it possible to print parts with less material usage to reduce material waste and save cost.
The application of AM will significantly lower the lead time and reduce the transport and storage needs of marine components. It will reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and open new opportunities in the aftermarket business. So far, AM components show material- and mechanical properties with high quality and according to standards and class society requirements.
