NTNU-SINTEF Campus – Trondheim, Norway 13 to 15 June 2022
The biennal Gustav Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants is once again brought back to Trondheim, the hometown of Professor Gustav Lorentzen and the cradle for the revival of CO2 as refrigerant.
Following up the successful conferences in Hanover 1994, Aarhus 1996, Oslo 1998, Purdue 2000, Guangzhou 2002, Glasgow 2004, Trondheim 2006, Copenhagen 2008, Sydney 2010, Delft 2012, Hangzhou 2014, Edinburgh 2016, Valencia 2018 and Kyoto 2020, the conference has become a globally important meeting place for more than 350 field experts from industry and research. The conference typically has 120 oral presentations in plenary and parallel sessions, more than 50 posters and world leading keynote speakers from science and government.
Please note that the Conference is not digital.
Objectives:
The theme put up for the conference is The Natural Choices by 2030. Currently the whole industry is in search for alternatives complying with the phase-down prescribed by the Kigali amendment to the Montreal Protocol. Especially for A5 countries, conversion to natural refrigerants could be a possibility to leapfrog to long term environmentally safe alternatives. The conference should contribute to bringing forward solutions based on natural working fluids for applications within Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Heat Pumps and Heat Engines.
Substances such as ammonia, hydrocarbons, water, air and carbon dioxide are all naturally occurring in the biosphere. In contrast to new chemical compounds, the use of such fluids as refrigerants gives complete environmental safety and eliminates all uncertainty with respect to possible unforeseen effects. The strategy of replacing CFC, HCFC and HFC chemicals by natural fluids is now applied to an increasing extent by the refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump industry, supported by several research groups and organisations.
The main objectives of the conference will be to discuss the latest research results and advances related to the use of natural working fluids in different types of systems and application areas. Through the presentation of invited and contributed papers, the conference participants will be introduced to the most recent progress in this important area of technology.
