H2 Liquefaction and Storage
SP1 will develop a cost-effective, large-scale (>100 tons/day) process for H2 liquefaction with a specific energy requirement below 5.5 kWh/kg LH2. Containment systems for large-scale onshore storage and seaborne transport of LH2 will be developed that match the design criteria for state-of-the-art LNG containment systems, i.e. 0.1 % volumetric boil-off rates per day. International collaboration with Imperial College in UK and IIK in India will facilitate research exchanges and promote scientific excellence.
